The 2001 Honda Civic HX with Side Airbags (HX SA) is basically a member of the HX trim in the 2001 model year that comes with front side airbags, which was an optional rather than a standard feature.

Engine and Transmissions:

All 2001 Civic HX SAs have 1.7-liter 117-horsepower 4-cylinder engines; it has two more horses than the DX engines. A 5-speed manual is the standard transmission (it gives a fuel economy of 36/44 mpg), although there was an option to get one with a 1-speed CVT (continuously variable transmission) with a fuel economy of 35/40 mpg.

Safety Features:

Power and child safety door locks are standard in the 2001 Civic HX SA, as well as driver and passenger airbags. Some vehicles might also have keyless entry systems. This is an improvement over the DX models, which, save for the airbags, do not have some of the aforementioned features as options.

Interior:

Cruise control, tachometer and tilt steering are some of the standard interior features in the 2001 Civic HX SA, features completely absent from the DX versions. The 2001 Civic HX SA only comes as a coupe, having two doors. All 2001 HX SAs all come with standard 14-inch alloy wheels, as well as rear window defoggers. Some might have fog lights, rear spoilers and mud guards.

Colors:

The 2001 Civic HX SA is available in Clover Green Pearl, Nighthawk Black Pearl, Rallye Red, Satin Silver Metallic and Taffeta White. Beige cloth interior adorns the green and white Civics, while black-colored cloth covers the black, red and silver ones.
