2005 Honda Civic LX SE

The 2005 Honda Civic LX SE is a kind of middle-ground trim for the Civic. The 2005 model year was the last year before a comprehensive redesign for the 2006 model year, so buyers should think about whether they want this "seventh-generation" Honda Civic design, or a newer model.

The 2005 Civic LX is driven by an SOHC 4-cylinder engine with a bit less horsepower than either the VTEC model on the EX trim, or the 2006 design. It's estimated to get 32 miles per gallon in city driving and 38 and on the highway with a manual transmission, or 29/38 with an automatic transmission.

Dual stage front airbags and LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) are standard safety features for the 2005 Civic. Anti-lock brakes are only available on the EX trim. Electronic Brake-Force Distribution (EBD) is not available on the 2005 Civic. The tire pressure monitoring system on later model years is also not featured.

There's more standard on the Civic LX, like air conditioning (optional on the base model DX) and remote entry, as well as more for style and comfort. The LX SE package also adds a leather-wrapped steering wheel to the cabin. The SE package also adds audio: where the LX comes with an AM/FM audio system with 4 Speakers and a dash clock, the SE adds a CD player and two additional speakers, as well as an auxiliary jack and MP3 play capability.

If a driver is looking at the 2005 model year, the Civic LX SE package helps them to get some of the good audio features on newer models while enjoying the specific engineering of the 2005 product line.
