For eight years, Honda has offered its Fit model to the American market - the 2009 Honda Fit Sport represents a step up from the base model, with several additional features.

Both Honda Fit models are powered by a 117 horsepower engine. The 2009 Fit Sport gets an EPA estimated 27/33 miles per gallon (cty/hwy) with either a manual or automatic transmission, where Honda shows the Fit base model to have a slightly higher MPG with an automatic transmission. The Fit Sport adds a dual-mode paddle shifter system.

The Honda Fit Sport package starts with what's in the base model: air conditioning, power locks and windows, and Honda's MagicSeat storage system. For audio, drivers can take advantage of a 160-Watt AM/FM/CD Audio System (with 4 speakers on the base model and 6 in the Fit Sport). MP3 capability and Speed Sensitive Volume Control are standard. For style, the Honda Fit Sport also shares blue backlit gages and other style features with the base model. The Fit Sport package also adds a security system with remote entry, a chrome exhaust finisher, leather-wrapped steering wheel, map lights, and more.

16" wheels are standard for the Honda Fit Sport model. All of the standard Honda safety features are included. Anti-lock brakes (ABS), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), and a tire pressure monitoring system, as well as dual-stage, dual-threshold front airbags and a high design body structure, provide more in safety engineering.
