The Jeep Grand Cherokee retains Jeep's legendary off-road prowess while providing many luxurious and technical amenities.
The Grand Cherokee is available in either a two- or four-wheel drive configuration. The available trims are Laredo, Limited, and Overland and the high performance SRT8. The Laredo trim starts with a 210-hp 3.7-liter V6, the Limited gets a 305-hp, flex-fuel 4.7-liter V8 (optional on Laredo), and the top-of-the-line Overland has a new-for-2009 5.7-liter V8 Hemi (optional on Limited). The SRT8 trim is powered by a 6.1-liter 420-hp V8. A 3.0-liter turbo diesel V6 is optional on all trims (except for SRT8). Power is delivered through a standard five-speed automatic transmission.Standard safety features for all Grand Cherokees include an electronic stability program, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes with brake assist, traction control, a tire-pressure monitoring system, side-curtain air bags, and front advanced multi-stage air bags. The MyGig sound system with hard drive and navigation is standard on Limited and Overland (available on Laredo and SRT8).
For 2009, Keyless Go remote proximity keyless entry and a new 5.7-liter V8 with variable valve control are standard on Overland and available on the Limited. A navigation system becomes standard on the Limited.
