Miles Per Gallon
City: 21 MPG
Highway: 31 MPG
Body Style: Hatchback

With its subtly Teutonic styling, the Volkswagen GTI may not look like a performance car despite its increasing tuner influence. But those inside will have no doubt about its dynamic capabilities and versatile interior.
The GTI is available as a two-door or four-door, with a 200-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and a choice of six-speed manual transmission or the six-speed Direct Shift Gearbox, or DSG, which allows the driver to shift without doing the clutch work. It comes with an extensive list of standard equipment including well-bolstered seats with plaid cloth insets, blue-tinted glass, xenon high-intensity gas-discharge headlamps, halogen fog lamps, alloy pedals, Sirius satellite radio, and a carpeted and covered cargo area. It also comes standard with 17-inch summer performance tires on alloy wheels. Front-side and curtain air bags are also standard, as is tire pressure monitoring.
For 2009, the GTI gains standard heated seats and heated washer nozzles, as well as VW's new Carefree Maintenance Program.
Intelligence on the Upcoming Volkswagen GTI Models For 2010, the MkVI GTI has been redesigned inside and out, but retains the same powertrain, overall size and capability of the much lauded MkV GTI, only with a new-look wrapper.
Resale Value for the 2009 Volkswagen GTI
When considering the purchase of a new vehicle, it's important to keep in mind what the eventual resale value will be. It is expected that the 2009 Volkswagen GTI will have a very good resale value. This assumes that after 3 to of 5 years of ownership the vehicle will be in good condition. Other factors include the optional equipment you choose and the total mileage on your vehicle.
