Applying for Split Limit Liability Online
|
|
In many cases, applying for a split limit liability insurance policy is extremely easy. There are many online companies that provide insurance coverage within a matter of minutes of applying.
Step 1
Choose an online website to apply. There are 2 different kinds of online car insurance websites.
The first is the website that is dedicated to a specific insurance company, like Geico or eSurance. These websites provide quotes for potential customers and give specific information about their company and policies.
The second type of online insurance website is an insurance clearinghouse. These are websites that collect your basic information and forward it to companies offering policies. These companies contact you with policy offers. Alternatively, the website may provide you with an instant side-by-side comparison of the different polices that are available based on the information you provided.
Step 2
Complete the online application. You will be asked to provide information about your driving history, the car, make and model you want coverage for and contact information. You will also be asked to provide your driver’s license number and social security number.
Step 3
Wait for policy quotes. In some cases, you will receive this information instantaneously on the screen. In other instances, you will receive an email with a policy quote. Finally, you may also receive a telephone call from an agent asking for more information or to discuss the policies they have available based on the information provided by you in the application.
Step 4
Make your choice for coverage. You will need to pay for the first several months of coverage usually, either by credit card or by online check authorization. In most cases, you can immediately print out your proof of insurance to place in your car and to provide to your local DMV.
