Car Accident Claim

Getting into an accident might be a bit overwhelming, but there are some things that you should make sure are included in your car accident claim to be fully compensated for your damages.

  1. Make sure that you get a copy of the police report to include with your claim. This will help the insurance company determine how much responsibility the other party had in the accident.
  2. Make sure that you sign a medical release so that the records of your injuries will be available to the insurance company.
  3. Include two estimates for your car repair. If the car is a total loss, include three appraisals of the vehicles value.
  4. Include the bills for towing and storage of your vehicle due to the accident.
  5. Claim for injuries along with lost wages or a disability coverage using the uninsured motorist coverage if the other party was not insured or insured enough.

Additional Information for Your Claim

You should also make sure that the other party in the accident has all of your information as well at the time of the accident. Make your vehicle available to be photographed and inspected by the insurance adjustors and follow up with phone calls.

If you need another vehicle while your car is being repaired, file a claim for that as well. Also, if there was property damage to items that were in your vehicle during the accident, you should make a claim for these items also. Cooperate with the insurance company and the process should go much smoother.
