Car Buying Or Leasing: How To Research Online
|
|
When thinking of car buying and leasing options, researching online is one easy way to investigate different cars and financing availability. Using the Internet has become one of the primary resources for information with almost any major purchase today and using your basic research skills will come in handy with this task.
Step 1
Evaluate your car needs. This can include evaluating what size car you need, considering how many miles you anticipate driving each year, looking at your current credit rating and even considering what you have available for a down payment if needed.
Step 2
Research different cars. You can find out information about almost any car by going to that car manufacturer's website. You can also find websites for individual car models. The advantage of going to both of these online resources is that you can find out detailed information about the car interior and exterior options, and view photographs of both the inside and outside of the car. You can also review model specs and the various optional features on each car.
Manufacturer websites will also provide information on the current lease, and purchase specials and deals that are being offered for each model. This can be invaluable information to know before going to a car dealership showroom in person.
Step 3
Research local dealerships. Not only do local dealerships offer the regional and national lease and purchase deals that are offered by the automotive manufacturer, but often, they are willing and able to sweeten the deal based on their own dealership agreements. For example, in the Sacramento region, several dealerships are offering substantial gift cards that can be used toward the purchase of items at local boutiques and stores. Other dealerships are offering gas gift cards and other incentives for anyone who signs a lease or purchase agreements. Just within the past year, local dealerships have increased incentives that help the local economy as their own form of economic stimulus package.
Step 4
Research finance options. There are many online auto finance companies today. In many cases, you can find companies with websites that are geared toward a single car manufacturer. Once you are approved for a loan or lease, then you will be directed toward a participating car dealership. Another online source for financing are auto loan clearinghouse websites that allow you to complete one online preliminary application, which is forwarded to multiple lease and car purchase financing companies. Those companies contact you with an offer for financing, allowing you to choose from several different offers, each with their own rate and finance terms.
Step 5
With all of your research in hand, it is then possible to even contact a dealership to set up an appointment to review the car(s) you might want to purchase or lease. While it is possible to complete the entire lease or purchase online, in most cases, it is best to visit a dealership and at least test drive the car you are considering to make sure you are comfortable and happy with the look, feel and drive.
