Car tire repair may be necessary in the event of any incident which damages a tire, such as running over debris. Punctures in car tires allow air inside the tire to escape, meaning that the pressure of the car's weight will be put directly on the wheels. This is both costly and dangerous, as it will damage the wheel beyond repair and impact your ability to control the vehicle. If there is a puncture in your car tire, you will need to repair it quickly before it becomes overly dangerous.
Car tires may be repaired by a mechanic or with a do it yourself repair kit. Both of these options are relatively inexpensive. If you do not have a DIY repair kit handy and are some distance away from a mechanic when your tire is damaged, you should drive until you've reached the first available safe place to pull over. Inspect your tire to see how badly it is damaged. If it is still firm and is only losing pressure slowly, use your own discretion to decide whether or not you can get to a mechanic. If the puncture is serious, you will need to have your car towed or else put on a spare tire. Depending on the severity of the puncture, car tire repair may not be possible, in which case you will need to purchase a new replacement tire.
Car tire repair, when possible, is a much cheaper alternative to replacing a tire entirely. For occasions when tire repair is not possible, make sure you're safe by always keeping a spare tire in your car.
