Specialty Oil Change

A Specialty oil Change usually refers to an oil change for a high performance or rather expensive type of car or truck. Many times, very high-end vehicles may have requirements for oil changes that differ considerably than requirements for more common types of vehicles.

Specialty oil changes may require the use of more expensive fully-synthetic oils or larger quantities of motor oil. Also, because of the complexity in design of certain types of vehicles, some vehicles may require special techniques or tools to remove the oil filter and oil pan in order to complete a specialty oil change. Depending upon the type of vehicle that you own, not all oil change locations will be able to perform oil changes for all vehicles; therefore, you may be required to take a vehicle to a dealership or qualified repair center in order to have the oil in a specialty vehicle changed.

To determine if your vehicle requires a specialty oil change, you should check the owner's manual that came with your vehicle or inquire at the nearest dealership authorized to sell and work on your particular type of vehicle. Generally speaking, specialty oil changes are much more expensive than oil changes for most types of commonly sold vehicles and may require several hours (or even a couple of days) to complete. So, if you're considering a specialty oil change for your vehicle, you may need to schedule ahead and make an appointment.
