Hyundai Sonata SE
Buyers looking for a middle ground trim in the new Sonata can take a look at the 2009 Hyundai Sonata SE; buyers who may be attracted to the Sonata for its safety and handling can find out what they get to choose from the GLS, SE or Limited trim options.
All of the Hyundai Sonata 2009 models ship with a standard 2.4L 4-cylinder engine that delivers 175 horsepower. In the SE, this engine gets an EPA estimated 22 miles per gallon in city driving and 32 MPG on highways. In addition, SE buyers can choose a 3.3L V6 for an estimated MPG of 19/29. Buyers choose a five-speed manual or a five -speed automatic SHIFTRONIC(R) transmission.
The Sonata SE also offers great safety features like Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and a Traction Control System (TCS), anti-lock brakes and specialized restraints. A tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) provides even more safety in helping to prevent roadside emergency situations.
Audio on the 2009 Sonata GLS is an AM/FM/XM/CD player/MP3 audio system with iPod®/USB and auxiliary input jacks, for allowing digital song play—and, in the SE, steering wheel mounted audio controls are standard. The wheels on this trim are 17-inch alloy wheels carrying 215/55R17 performance tires, with sport-tuned suspension.
The SE offers more features above the GLS package, including keyless entry, as well as several style features, and some extras in seating support. All of this, including the engine options, makes the SE a popular package for those who want to go above the standard option for the Sonata.
