Nissan Altima Hybrid
The 2009 Nissan Altima Hybrid combines the special features of advanced models with the performance and fuel economy of the hybrid engine—where the Altima SE and SL models feature a 3.5L V6 that delivers 270 horsepower, the Nissan Altima Hybrid includes a 2.5L 4-cylinder gasoline engine as well as a "Permanent magnet AC synchronous electric motor" that kicks on when applicable—this dual-engine system brings a staggering 33 miles per gallon highway and a 35 miles per gallon city. Yes, the city MPG is higher because the electric motor has more chance to kick in, limiting gasoline burning in stop and go traffic.
Like other models, the Nissan Altima Hybrid has steering-wheel-mounted cruise control and power locks and windows, as well as the unique Nissan key system (also offered in the 2.5S, the 3.5SE and the 3.5SL) that offers touch-key ignition options. Other features, like a 6 way adjustable driver's seat also comes standard with the Altima Hybrid. However, many of the interior audio and convenience features standard in the deluxe SL model are optional for the hybrid as part of a "Connection package."
For safety, the Altima Hybrid shares the anti-lock brake system and 6 airbags that are standard on other models, and a traction control system that can control brake pressure and engine torque to help optimize handling on the road. Other standard features like structural stops for front end collision, as well as seat features like Front-seat Active Head Restraints and a LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) for protecting the whole family with supreme new technology, also come standard on the hybrid model.
The Nissan Altima Hybrid is a vehicle for those who love the design and engineering of the Altima and want to profit from hybrid engine technology to get more out of each gallon of gas they buy. This competitive hybrid car is popular with Nissan customers who are looking forward into power saving and cost reduction in the new millennium.
