Nissan Versa S
The 2009 Nissan Versa S model represents a step up from the base model. Where the base model comes with a 1.6L DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder engine making 107 horsepower, the Versa S comes with a 122 horsepower 1.8L engine, that gets an EPA estimated mileage per gallon of 26city/31hwy with the 6-speed manual transmission (standard) and 24/32 with the 4-speed automatic transmission (offered as an alternative).
A lot of the safety gear in the Versa S 1.8 comes standard on the base model as well, from zone body construction and safety stops to an advanced airbag system, a LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) system, and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System to help avoid underinflated tires, which can lead to road safety issues. Some extras on the Versa S include a number of styling details, as well as power windows and locks (part of an optional package), and air conditioning with an in-cabin microfilter for air quality control. The audio system on the Versa S includes AM/FM/CD (not part of the base model).
In addition to some of the features offered in the Nissan Versa S, this model is also available in a hatchback style as well as a sedan style, where the base model is only offered as a sedan. If you see the hatchback style of the Versa on the street, chances are the buyer selected the Versa S, where affordability combined with the engineering of a new Nissan makes this a competitive attraction for new car buyers.
