I have been the owner of this SC2 for 8 years and still love it, but have decided to become a one car family. The tires are brand new high quality from Les Schwab with warrantee. I took the car into the Saturn dealership for a check up before selling and had all the suggested work completed including a new radiator and water pump. Over the years, the Saturn SC’s excellent gas mileage ratings have made it a popular choice for commuters on a budget looking for a slightly sporty flair. With gas mileage ratings that rivaled some of the best from overseas, Saturn aimed to go toe-to-toe with the competition. Saturn achieved laudable gas mileage results by paying particular attention to vehicle weight, as evidenced by the (don’t call them plastic) “dent-resistant polymer body panels.” A 1.9 liter four cylinder engine — in both single overhead cam (SOHC) and dual overhead cam (DOHC) variants — was found under the hood of the SC (depending on the model). The SC1 carried the SOHC engine, which produced 100 horsepower (HP) and 114 foot pounds of torque, while the SC2 was fitted with the more powerful 16-valve DOHC engine, which produced 124 HP and 122 foot pounds of torque.
