Volkswagen GLI Generations
For each major redesign, a vehicle is said to begin a new "generation."
The GLI is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with a six-speed manual transmission. This high-tech engine produces 200 horsepower and 207 pound-feet of torque. The GLI is also available with a six-speed Direct Shift Gearbox, which works like a manual transmission with an automated clutch, and can be shifted manually or left in full automatic mode. The GLI comes standard with front side-impact air bags, curtain/head air bags, electronic stability control and anti-lock brakes.
